S10 Update 12-16-08

Latest update on my S10 V8 conversion. Well thought things were going good all day and then a major setback. I'll explain later...
Started by covering some of the firewall with some high temp material knowing that the headers would come close to the firewall.  I also covered the slave cylinder line with Mr Gasket Thermal Sleeving since it's made from plastic.  Not sure if this will work but I'm going to try it out.
Next was setting up my fuel pressure regulator... I used a Mallory 4309 unit with a return since I will be using the trucks pump in the tank.  After looking at this set-up I don't like it at all... I will work on this and move them around.  I'm not pleased with the placement since it sit on top of the passenger header.
Next was making room for the shifter with the Camaro World Class t5.  I was able to take the measurements from the bottom once in installed the motor pretty easily.  I decided to use a short-throw B&M shifter as if fits amazingly well with this set-up.
Here I am making the new access for the shifter
Here's what it looked like once installed.  Big difference in shifter location from the s10 t5 to the Camaro t5
Another shot....
The t5 bolted up amazingly well with the stock cross-member from the truck.  All I had to do was egg-shape the original bolt location.  The only challenge was the original f-body trans tabs that mount to the shaft that runs bak to the rear end.
Quick modification was to cut the forward most tab... the rear one comes close and I might go back and also cut it off.
Here is the motor for what I thought would be the last time... well after looking at things a bit closer there was one mayor mistake I made along the way.....
Not sure what I did wrong but my oil pan hits the cross-member in the back.  That is with the motor as far back as possible...The passenger head comes real close to the heater core cover.  With all the reading i've done... I've not come across anyone with this problem... Not sure if it happens to be the pan I'm using on the motor but it's the pretty standard pan that came with the Camaro motor.

After all that... I gave up for the day.  I started getting a bit frustrated. While I was cleaning up I decided to take a couple of shots of the 1992 Trans Am and 1964 Chevelle.  Here's a couple of pics of the T/A...

Here is the Chevelle... Drove it work a few days ago and had a blast.
